BUSINESS TRAVEL SAFETY & SECURITY - Corporate espionage is an increasingly serious threat for a business traveler. The perpetrator may be a competitor, opportunist, or foreign intelligence officer. In many countries, domestic corporations collect competitive intelligence with the help and support of their government. To mitigate this risk, your organization’s critical information and technologies should not reside on any hard copy or electronic device you take unless it is absolutely necessary, and if so, then you must safeguard the physical access to the information by using encryption and keeping the material on your person at all times. Hotel safes are not adequate protection. Learn more... >>>

HOTEL KEY CARDS - This is pretty good info. Never even thought about hotel key cards containing anything other than an access code for the room! Did you know that when you turn your hotel key card in to the front desk your personal information is there for any employee to access by simply scanning the card in the hotel scanner? TRAVEL HEALTH INFO - The intimacy of life aboard a cruise ship may foster romance, but it can also aid the spread of bacteria like Shigella and Giardia, which cause intestinal upsets, and Ligonella, which sometimes causes pneumonia. Find more travel health info... >>>

DRUGS AND TRAVEL - Don't be tempted to smuggle drugs to earn fast, easy cash. Any deal that sounds too good to be true is too good to be true. Chances are it won't work. If you're caught with drugs in a foreign country, you'll end up paying a stiff fine, spending time in jail or possibly even facing the death penalty. It's not worth it! Learn more... >>>

TRAVEL INSURANCE - The unexpected can happen to anyone, even before you start your travel or while traveling. You could be faced with a last minute travel cancellation, illness of family member or an illness abroad. Emergencies are never in the plans, and if you experience a problem out of the country (or even out of province), always purchase supplementary medical insurance. Find out more... >>>

HOT SPOTS & SENSITIVE DATA - Free public Wi-Fi networks aka "hot spots" at airport, hotel lobby or coffee shop are not the best place to enter sensitive data, such as your banking passwords, info about financial transactions, or important business information, as cyber crooks could be digitally eavesdropping on your activities. Cyber criminals from numerous countries buy and sell stolen financial information including credit card data and login credentials (user names and passwords). TRAVELING WITH PETS - Many countries have strict health, quarantine, agriculture, wildlife, and customs requirements or prohibitions for pets. If you decide to take your pet abroad, check with the embassies of the countries you will be going to for any specific requirements they may have. In the event of a crisis involving a government coordinated evacuation, most governments are generally not able to provide transportation assistance for your pets. If you plan traveling or residing abroad with pets, you should make alternate plans for their care if you have to leave them behind or commercial transport if a crisis occurs abroad. Working (service) animals, such as guide dogs, are not considered pets. If possible, animals in this classification are accommodated, if they have the required documentation. Find out more... >>>

TIPS FOR CANADIANS TRAVELING WITH CRIMINAL RECORD - Having a criminal record is never easy, and when you need to travel, your record will make it very hard to do so freely. Even now, 10 years later, they still continue to tighten their policies and they have become very hard on criminal records. Read more... >>>
