International dialling code for Croatia is 385. Calls to foreign countries can be made directly from any telephone. Public phones or payphones appear pretty much everywhere in Croatia. Phone cards, which are sold at post offices and newspaper kiosks, are used for all public telephones and come in various denominations.

If you need emergency help in Croatia, 112 is the common emergency telephone number that can be dialed free of charge from any fixed or mobile telephone in order to reach emergency services (ambulance, police, fire and rescue).

When calling a Croatian number from a Croatian number, remove the "+385" and replace it with a "0". When listed phone numbers are starting with a "0", that means phone number version is only to be used when dialing from a Croatian number. If you call from a foreign number, you would dial +385 instead of "0". For example, if you want to call the Croatian Automobile Club (HRK) from a Croatian number, you would dial 01 661 1999.
