Visit Citadelle de Québec - The Citadelle of Québec is the largest British fortress in North America. It is an integral part of the Québec fortifications and is located on Cape Diamond, the city's highest point. The Citadelle was recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1980 and is part of the Historic District of Old Québec, which was placed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1985.
Observatoire de la Capitale - Experience a unique overview of the Quebec City at its highest viewpoint and discover its beauty, identity, rich history, and culture. Horizons Discovery Experience was created under the artistic direction of Olivier Dufour, and has a vivid, fast-paced exposé of city’s history and the roots of Québec’s identity, in addition to the highest and best views in the city of Québec.
Musée de la Civilisation - Musée de la Civilisation is a government corporation established in 1984, with major function to make known the history and the various cultural elements of the territory of Québec and the cultures that have contributed to the enrichment of those cultures and to ensure the preservation and development of the ethnographic collection and other representative collections, particularly the social and material aspects of the cultures of the occupants of the territory of Québec and the cultures that have contributed to the enrichment of those cultures.
Funiculaire du Vieux-Québec - The Funicular gives its visitors a unique way to view the city. The Funicular travels at a 45 degree angle and takes its passengers from Haute-Ville (Upper Town) to the Basse-Ville (Lower Town), which includes such sites as the colonial-era Notre Dame des Victoires church, the historic Petit Champlain district, the port, and the Musée de la civilisation (Museum of Civilization). Climbing at a 45-degree angle, the railway covers a total distance of 64 metres (210 ft). The Old Quebec City’s Funicular has been in continual service since it was first made in 1879. Modern updates now allow year-round service to locals and visitors alike, making this ride a must in every season!
The Quebec Winter Carnaval - The Quebec Winter Carnival (French: Carnaval de Québec), commonly known in both English and French as Carnaval, is a pre-Lenten festival held in Quebec City. The most famous attractions of this winter festival are the night-time and daytime parades led by mascot Bonhomme Carnaval. The parades wind through the upper city, decorated for the occasion with lights and ice sculptures. After being held intermittently since 1894, the Carnaval de Québec has been celebrated annually since 1955.
Québec City Summer Festival - Every year, the Festival d’été de Québec attracts over one million festival-goers to Québec City’s historical district for concerts by international superstars and top new talent. The "Heart of the Festival" is a rendez-vous point at Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale, right in front of the Tourny Fountain. It’s got an information stand, a bike parking, a picnic area with food trucks, a bar, a bistro, and free shows by up-and-coming artists from Québec and beyond. Read more...
