Fort Whyte Alive - Winnipeg

This centre for family adventure and recreation is Winnipeg's special wild oasis with 660 acres of forest, lakes, marshes and self-guiding trails. It brings people together to share unforgettable experiences and build sustainable relationships with nature and each other.

Fort Whyte is home to an abundance of wildlife, including waterfowl, whitetail deer, and muskrats to their resident bison herd. Scenic lakes offer canoe and boat rentals and year round fishing for pike, walleye and trout. Through their 660-acre reclaimed urban green space, there is always something new to discover each time you visit Fort Whyte.

A bird-watcher's delight. Fall migration brings thousands of migrating birds, Canada geese and ducks for a truly natural spectacle, a must-see destination for birding enthusiasts. Each experience at Fort Whyte is unique, including what wildlife you might encounter.

Visit Fort Whyte Alive and explore the land by bike or snowshoe, or opt for the open water in a canoe or rowboat. Each season offers a new experience, with winter's ice fishing and tobogganing, summer's hiking and bird watching, and fall's spectacular waterfowl migration. Other experiences include dining at the sustainable Buffalo Stone Café, browsing the Nature Shop, and taking in The Interpretive Centre.
