What You Should Know About Hunting
Respecting nature and the environment when hunting is the most important part of successful hunting. This ensures that the joys of hunting can continue for generations to come.
Good hunting requires a great deal of pre-planning and patience, and while this info is trying to touch some of the most important issues, there are certainly more that should be considered.
Try to stay alert as much as possible because some of the aggressive animals like bear, badger, wolf or some other animal may be encountered when hunting. Keep your eyes open and attempt to avoid any confrontations with any animal that you are not stalking. Remind yourself that this is the animal's home and you are the guest. Always try to back quietly away from an animal without disturbing it.
"All really wild scenery is attractive. The true hunter, the true lover of wilderness, loves all parts of the wilderness, just as the true lover of nature loves all seasons. There is no season of the year when the country is not more attractive than the city; and there is no portion of the wilderness, where game is found, in which it is not a keen pleasure to hunt.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
Hunting is exciting, but it can also be dangerous and even deadly if hunters are not educated and religiously exercise good hunting safety techniques.
Basic Hunting Tips - When you are hunting deer and find yourself tracking a wounded animal, always use extreme caution. Other animals in the area may become panicked at the smell of one of their own running wounded near them. An injured animal is very unpredictable and may likely be desperate to get away from you if it senses that you are pursuing.
Basic Firearms Safety Tips - When crossing obstacles with others first unload your firearms and leave the actions open. First hunter should cross the obstacle while the second holds both firearms, than the hunter who has not yet crossed passes the firearms (one by one) over the obstacle to the first hunter and then crosses the obstacle.
Hunting Clothes Tips - No matter how good your equipment or how well you know the territory, these hunting clothes tips can make your hunt a success.
Light Goose Decoying Strategies - Light geese are notorious for having “commitment issues” with any decoy spread. Seeming to understand a shotgun's maximum range, they drift left or right just beyond shooters’ capabilities.
Snow Goose Hunting Tips - Hunting snow geese requires hard work and specialized strategies, but those who learn the tricks find it immensely rewarding. Several hunters claim that few outdoor experiences can compare with being at the center of a swirling-vortex of several thousand squawking snow geese settling into a decoy spread.
Hunting Dogs - Hunting dogs are sure the most effective possible ally of the hunter, as they sniffle and scavenge for prey in the deepest and gloomiest brush of the forest. In that respect you should explore various possibilities for a hunting dog type that you can take on your next hunting trip.
State Hunting Regulations
Hunting in Canada - Hunting is permitted in Canada, but strict regulations are imposed at federal and provincial level to protect wildlife. It is a popular pastime and has been an established recreational activity for many years and is considered a way of life. There are numerous opportunities for residents and visitors to hunt.
Canadian Federal and Provincial Hunting Regulations - We’re confident you’re all with the program, but it’s worth repeating: Please be sure to seek permission from landowners before hunting on private property. And, of course, always check your provincial or territorial hunting regulations for detailed information on draws, seasons, limits and more before heading afield. Sermon over. Good luck out there.
