LITERATURE |
Beyond the Theme Parks: Exploring Central
Florida (Hardcover) - Part tour guide and part
historical resource, this book will be useful
both to visitors and to residents, old and new, of central Florida.
Brotemarkle, an Orlando radio host, has won journalism awards for his
coverage of central Florida history and culture. His in-depth research
is immediately apparent, as is his plea for historic preservation.
Small historic towns that get only one paragraph in most travel guides
are each given a lengthy chapter here, complete with footnotes.
Appendixes include a complete listing of local arts groups, historic
sites in the region, and a calendar of annual arts and cultural
festivals.
Roller Coaster: Wooden and Steel Coasters,
Twisters and Corkscrews (Hardcover) - If you love roller
coasters, this is a great book. It has awsome pictures and some great
stuff about the history of the roller coaster. It is a couple years old
so of course it is missing several of the
latest and greatest coasters. Unfortunately it is all but impossible
for a coaster book to be update with the rapid additions and changes in
the coaster world.
