Camphor
basil has a strong camphor aroma overlaying the characteristic
basil scent; excelent in herb mixtures (usually very hard to find). If
hard to find, add star anise to sweet basil.

leaves that can be used in sachets to protect woolens and as a tea for
stomach aches.
All basil varieties have in common that their dried leaves are
much less aromatic than fresh ones; deep-freezing the herb is the best
method of preservation.
